Effective writing is critical for success in many academic and professional pursuits. APA Style is a set of guidelines for clear and precise scholarly communication that helps authors, both new and experienced, achieve excellence in writing. As new APA Style products are announced, we will update this page.

APA released the Inclusive Language Guidelines—a place to find the most relevant language to use when communicating about equity, diversity, and inclusion. The goal is to reduce bias in language and avoid perpetuating harm to marginalized communities by assisting writers in using inclusive and appropriate language in conversation and writing. The guidelines draw heavily on APA Style’s comprehensive bias-free language guidelines as well as APA’s own policy statements and practice guidelines and psychological research in journals and books. The seventh edition of the Mastering APA Style Student Workbook was released in September 2021. This digital workbook is APA’s official interactive guide to learning APA Style. To help students in need of APA Style guidance during the COVID-19 pandemic, 13 tutorials and quick guides adapted from Academic Writer®, APA’s tool for teaching and learning effective writing, were made freely available through July 1, 2020. These Academic Writer tutorials and quick guides accompany the Basics of Seventh Edition APA Style tutorial, which is available permanently on the Tutorials and Webinars page.

What’s New in the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association, Seventh Edition (PDF, 1.2MB) was released in March 2020 to provide an overview of guidelines that are new, revised, and expanded in each chapter of the seventh edition Publication Manual.
